Kelsey LaPrad joined the Westport Public Schools at the start of the 2022-2023 school year as the Transition Coordinator. It was an exciting time for her to join as Westport was piloting their Westport Connections Transition Program for students ages 18-22 who require special education services beyond their four years of high school. She has played a role in job developing, creating community based worksites, collaborating with stakeholders in the Westport and Fairfield communities and writing curriculum relevant to the students post secondary lives. Prior to coming to Westport, Kelsey served as a special education teacher in a self-contained classroom at Brien McMahon High School for 11 years, where she also served as the Unified Sports Coach and Best Buddies Director. While there she worked with the Norwalk Community to create jobsites and volunteer opportunities for the students in her classroom and developed an in school coffee shop-Red, White and Brew!
