Our Mission

SEA was formed as a non-stock, not-for-profit Delaware Corporation in March of 2022.

 

The public impact goals of Soundview Empowerment Alliance, Inc. (“SEA”) are:

 

(1) To preserve in perpetuity, via acquisition, an historic and historically significant building and use to educate the public by supporting and promoting appreciation of rich, local history, and maintaining the general public’s access to it. By so doing, and by renting to tenant(s), continue the historic use of the Old Mill Store building, which is the oldest operating retail food establishment in the town of Westport, CT, operating continuously for more than 100 years.

 

(2) To expand the function and use of the building and legacy business to provide inclusive empowerment opportunities, including community education, life-skills training, and job-training leading to long-term employment opportunities for adults with disabilities, enabling employers and patrons alike to appreciate and embrace these neighbors. By doing so, contribute to the fabric of our vibrant community, bringing our training model to businesses throughout Westport, enabling employers to understand the benefits that accrue to them in tapping this underemployed resource, and fostering more regular interaction leading the community to embrace and celebrate its diverse community.
